Day 14 - Accessible Media
Media such as images, videos, audio can be made accessible by providing the information in it in multiple ways. For instance, captions and transcripts make video accessible to people who cannot hear.
Mentioned below are a few of the ways to make media accessible:
Don’t use only colour to convey information. Use other means such as shape, position, or text in addition to colour.
Use alt text to describe the images and null alt text (alt=””, with no space between the quotes) for decorative images.
Provide captions and descriptions for video.
Format captions for better readability. Ensure enough contrast between the caption text and background. Put line breaks between caption text in a logical way.
Avoid auto-playing of videos.
