Day 15 - Usability Testing

Usability testing is a research method that assesses how easy it is for participants to complete core tasks in a product.

Goals of Usability Testing

  • Identifying problems in the design

  • Finding opportunities to improve the design

  • Learning about the user’s behaviour and preferences

Types of Usability Testing

  • Moderated usability tests:
A moderator or a facilitator guides the participants and asks them to complete different tasks.

  • Unmoderated usability tests:
Participants complete the tasks on their own time without the facilitator present. The participant’s actions are usually recorded on video and it’s reviewed later by the UX team.
