Day 2 - User Research
“Research is simply systematic inquiry.”
For instance, when one googles something like “UX design” and goes down the rabbit hole of linked web pages and ends up on something like, “UX vs UI”.
User research can be classified into four broad categories:
Generative or exploratory research is done to define the problem. It can include interviews, field observation, reviewing existing literature.
Descriptive and explanatory research is done to understand the context of a given design problem.
Evaluative research is done to test the potential solutions. Usability testing is a type of evaluative research.
Casual research is done to understand the outcome of the proposed solution. It can include going through the analytics.
