Day 4 - Personas

A persona is a fictional, yet realistic, description of a typical or target user of the product. It must be based on user research.

Personas tell us about the behaviours, motivations, needs, and pain points of groups of users.

There are three types of personas:

  • Proto personas can be based on existing user information (if available) or entirely on the internal stakeholders’ assumptions of the users and their needs

  • Qualitative personas are based on qualitative user research done with interviews, usability testing, or field studies

  • Statistical personas are based on both qualitative and quantitative research. After the initial qualitative research, a survey is sent to the users to cluster them into personas.
