Day 8 - Four principles of Accessibility

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) are organized around four user-centred principles, which form the acronym POUR:

  • Perceivable - Information and user interface components must be presented to users in ways they can perceive with their senses

  • Operable - User interface components and navigation must be designed so that users can interact with them in multiple ways.

  • Understandable - Information and the operation of user interface must be clear and simple.

  • Robust - Content must be created so that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.
